November is upon us. Even thought we might miss long days at the beach, fall gives us plenty to enjoy. You might like off-roading the dunes of the beach or rolling down the highway in summer. Drivers with the need to hit the open road again can enjoy fall just as much. There are plenty of ways to hit the open road and fill your every driving need.
If you’ve had your fill already of pumpkins, apples, and festivals, maybe then one last road trip is in order. There’s a road trip for just about any style or taste. If you don’t know your road trip style, here’s a list. One or more of them is bound to suit your style.
Take it to the Highway: Highways and Byways
Lincoln Highway – If you’re thinking of taking a historic road trip, you can make your way down the Lincoln Highway and match it up with a visit to Lincoln’s Log Cabin in Foster Park. There you can see a replica of Lincoln’s log cabin. The two-room reproduction of the log cabin along with the working, living-history farm is right up the history buff’s alley.
Blue ridge Parkway
The Blue Ridge Parkway is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful drives in America, especially during fall. Along the drive you can view the most breathtaking fall foliage, stop at scenic byways along the way, and have a picnic. There are plenty of places along the way to hike, take in breathtaking waterfalls and climb to your heart’s content.
Whether you’ve taken this drive before or not, between the jaw-dropping mountain views, the fall foliage and all that Mother Nature has to offer along the way, this may very well be your road trip style.
The Water’s Edge
Lakes
Lake Michigan Circle Tour is one of the best road trips around. Travelers can make their way around Lake Michigan by following state highways. Depending on which state you’re traveling through you can visit soft-sand shores or view rough and tumble cliffs. Make your way over one of the longest suspension bridges and, of course, enjoy the view of the glistening lake along the way. If you enjoy this tour, you can sign up for the Great Lakes Tours.
Routes
U.S. Route 9 during fall is an eye-appealing drive. Travelers can enjoy the scenery or stop at a farmer’s market to pick up some fresh produce. Take in the scenic views, stop in a quaint little town and enjoy the ride.
Route 66 – Route 66 is a part of America’s history. Running from Chicago to Los Angeles, this stretch of highway continues to capture America’s hearts and imaginations. Enjoy remnants of a lost time when giant roadside signs beckoned to travelers and little cafes on dusty roads were all the rage.
